“Inside Out” – Meet the Emotions Inside Your Head on June 19 – #InsideOut

Not only did I get the chance to see most of “Inside Out” during Disney Social Media Moms Conference a few weeks ago, but I also was thrilled to listen to Jonas Rivera from Pixar explain how the idea for “Inside Out” came to life! One very interesting session! The film is fascinating – meet the emotions that live inside your head – at first doesn’t seem like something that would hold your interest. Then the brilliant minds at Pixar get their hands on the idea and bring those emotions – Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness and Disgust to life in the form of animated little characters that have you smiling within seconds. The voice cast includes Amy Poehler as JoyPhyllis Smith as SadnessBill Hader as FearLewis Black as Anger;  Mindy Kaling as Disgust; Kaitlyn Dias as Riley AndersonDiane Lane as Riley’s MomKyle MacLachlan as Riley’s Dad; and Richard Kind as Bing Bong, Riley’s Imaginary Friend.

I found the entire concept fascinating and so well explained in a simple and entertaining form. I’m convinced that Inside Out will be a huge hit that will be viewed over and over again by kids (and adults) everywhere!

Fear – Sadness – Joy – Disgust – Anger

Here’s the story: Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life, when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Riley and everyone else are guided by their emotions, Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The personified emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters, when Sadness accidentally causes herself and Joy to get lost, within the rest of Riley’s Mind.

Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the remaining emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school, while Joy and Sadness trek through the rest of Riley’s Mind (including “Long Term Memory”, “Imagination Land” and “Dream Productions”), in the process slowly discovering the bright side of life.
